West Chester University guest lecture & critic
I was invited by Professor Scotty Reifsnyder to participate in a project about Puerto Rico with students in the ART400: Design for Social Good course at West Chester University. I prepared a short video presentation about Puerto Rico that focused on the Jones Act and the history of label design for the Don Q rum brand. Students in the class were tasked with redesigning the packaging for Don Q with a focus on positive social impact. I then joined the class at the end of the semester to share some recent research about Puerto Rican graphic design Lorenzo Homar and to critique and award the student work.

	Place-Keepers book cover
I was commissioned by University of Minnesota Press to design the book cover for Jennifer Lopez Lyman’s Place-Keepers: Latina/x Art, Performance, and Organizing in the Twin Cities.

From the publisher:
“In Place-Keepers, Jessica Lopez Lyman examines how Latina/x artists in the Twin Cities navigate and challenge the region’s deep-seated racial injustices. Using “Inter-Latina movidas”—subtle yet strategic actions through which Latina/x artists forge solidarities, mobilize for justice, and reclaim space—these artists respond to systemic oppression through public performances and behind-the-scenes negotiations with the state, nonprofits, and other institutions.”

	Culinary Palettes book cover
I was commissioned by University of Texas Press to design the book cover for Lesley Wolff’s Culinary Palettes: The Visuality of Food in Postrevolutionary Mexican Art.

From the publisher:
“Postrevolutionary Mexico City was a site of anxious nation-building, as rampant modernization converged and clashed with the nation’s growing nostalgia for its pre-Columbian heritage. During this volatile period, food became a meaningful symbol for a Mexican citizenry seeking new modes of national participation.”

	Bookstand 2125: Matriarchal Design Futures
I was invited to submit a speculative book cover design for Bookstand 2125: Matriarchal Design Futures. My cover for La Chancla: How a Symbol of Motherhood Inspired a Protest Movement explores the cultural semiotics of ‘la chancla’ (sandal), a symbol of discipline and care in many Latinx households, and its transformation into an emblem of resistance. This title weaves personal stories with history and activism to reveal how this object united communities to fight for justice, equity, and social change. A powerful tribute to the strength of mothers everywhere and the impact of grassroots movements. From the organizers:“Bookstand 2125 is a collaborative design fiction project that invites artists and designers to imagine and create books from the year 2125. In this speculative future, knowledge and creativity flourish within systems centered on care, nurturing, and collective well-being rather than competition and scarcity. Contributors were encouraged to explore bold, even preposterous ideas that challenge current paradigms and light the way toward preferred futures.”This work was sekected to be included in the Typeforce 13 exhibition in Chicago, IL, January 31–February 16, 2025.Link︎︎︎

Two written contributions I submitted were included in The Little Book of Joy: Tiny Ways to Infuse Delight into Teaching and Learning, edited and illustrated by Eugene Korsunskiy, and published by Dartmouth College. My written contributions, including "Joy as a Prompt" and "Generous Design", aim to center a radically-inclusive approach within graphic design pedagogy.Link︎︎︎

	A Technomoral Politics book cover
I was commissioned by University of Minnesota Press to design the book cover for Aradhana Sharma’s A Technomoral Politicts: Good Governance, Transparency, and Corruption in India.

From the publisher:
“Good governance is meant to empower citizens, increase democratic participation, and make states transparent and accountable, yet this liberal democratic imperative can also promote populist authoritarian rule. Bringing together discourses on ethical goodness with the technicalities of governance as expressed in laws and policies, Aradhana Sharma develops the concept of “technomoral politics” to navigate this fraught topic. With a focus on the work of activists, citizens, and state officials, she offers an ethnographic account of the contradictions and dangers of good-governance politics in twenty-first-century India.”

Latinas/os in New Jersey book cover
I was commissioned by Rutgers University Press to design the book cover for Latinas/os in New Jersey: Histories, Communities, and Cultures, a collection of scholarly contrbutions addressing the demographic history of Latinos in the state edited by Aldo A. Lauria Santiago and Ulla D. Berg.

From the publisher:
“Since the 1890s, New Jersey has attracted hundreds of thousands of Caribbean and Latin American migrants. The state’s rich economic history, high-income suburbs, and strong public sector have all contributed to attracting, retaining, and setting the stage for Latin American and Caribbean immigrants and secondary-step migrants from New York City. Since the 1980s, however, Latinos have developed a more complex presence in the state’s political landscape and institutions.”
